Born in 2008 from the passion of Eleonora Costa and Luigi Armanino, this reality today represents one of the most authentic and vibrant projects of the Monferrato Casalese. The couple chose the small village of Alfiano Natta (Alessandria) to take up an important legacy: that of Carlo Quarello.\r\nThe estate covers about 5 hectares of vineyards, situated on a well-ventilated hilltop, considered a true \"cru\" for Piedmontese viticulture. Here, the vines\u2014many of which reach 50 years of age\u2014sink their roots into a rich and complex soil. Eleonora and Luigi cultivate the symbolic grape varieties of the territory: Barbera, Nebbiolo, and above all Grignolino, a rebellious and noble variety that finds its highest expression here. To these is added the recovery of rare varieties such as Baratacuiat, a testament to the desire to preserve local biodiversity.\r\nCrealto's approach is a hymn to nature. In the vineyard, certified organic farming is practiced, integrated with biodynamic techniques.\r\nThere is a total aversion to herbicides and chemical fertilizers. Soil fertility is guaranteed by green manure (cover crops of legumes and crucifers) and the use of Preparation 500.\r\nOnly copper, sulfur, and plant-based preparations made from mustard or natural pyrethrum are used to protect the plants. Thinning is minimal and reasoned, so as not to alter the vegetative balance and to ensure optimal ripening without sunburning the grapes.\r\nThe \"non-intervention\" philosophy continues in the cellar. Fermentations occur spontaneously, without the use of selected yeasts. The use of sulfur is reduced to the bare minimum necessary to guarantee stability, preserving the wholesomeness of the wine.\r\nFrom stainless steel to wood, to experimentation with terracotta amphorae for the Barbera, every vessel is chosen to enhance the characteristics of the grape without masking them.
