Chahut et Prodiges Winery

Chahut et Prodiges Winery born in Chargé, a commune in the Central Loire Valley, right on the riverbank. Before becoming a winemaker, Grégory Leclerc had a background in history, with experiences in both marketing and wine journalism after obtaining his master’s degree. However, it was an encounter with a group of passionate natural wine producers in the Loire Valley that made him realize he had found his calling. In 2007, Grégory Leclerc officially put down his pen and embraced the challenge of becoming a winemaker. He acquired 6.5 hectares of land and a winery in Touraine, embarking on an exciting journey into natural winemaking.
The vineyards of Domaine Chahut et Prodiges host a variety of grape varieties, including Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon, Gamay, Côt (Malbec), and Grolleau. These vines grow on predominantly limestone and clay soils, nurtured by an exceptional climate. The average age of the vines is around 25 years, but the true gem of the estate is the Grolleau vines, with over 60 years of age, planted on flint and clay soils.
The grapes are hand-harvested, and organic farming practices are employed to promote biodiversity, including flora and fauna, as well as the sowing of mustard seeds to increase nitrogen levels in the soil. Grégory shares the winery with Anne Paillet, the producer of the magnificent Autour de l’Anne wines, both as a cellar partner and in life. Here, the wines are 100% natural, characterized by a deep respect for the natural winemaking process and the preservation of their authentic and unique essence.
