Garcia Pérez Winery

he Garcia Pérez Winery in the south-eastern region of Murcia, Jumilla is a unique enclave where vineyards are planted on hills and valleys at 400-800m above sea level. The grounds are covered with pebbles which reflect the heat of the sun. They are poor, clayey with limestone that sustain to retain the rain, which is essential, since the annual rainfall is very scarce and the vineyards are grown in dry conditions.
The climate is continental with extremely hot summers and cold winters and mild influence of the Mediterranean breeze.
This is home to the distinctive local grape, Monastrell, which displays an explosion of aromas, flavors and colors as it ripens.
Another vineyard of the winery called “MANCHUELA” is located on the south-east side of the La Mancha plateau, in the iconic valley between the Júcar and Cabriel rivers, with an altitude between 700-050 m above sea level. Clayey soils with limestone base, little rain. The climate is dry, with little rainfall between May and September, with long hours of sunshine and large temperature variations, and the influence of the Mediterranean breeze.
It is the ideal environment for growing the local varieties Bobal, Macabeo and Moravia.
In the cellar we work in a very natural way and without the use of chemicals in the fields, in very rare cases sulfur or copper for the prevention of vine diseases. The harvest is manual, fermentation of the grapes in small 1000 L plastic vats, manual punching down three times a day and natural settling with the cold to lighten the wine.
