Tufiello Winery
Il Tufiello, a historic cereal company in Upper Irpinia and one of the first companies in the South, organic since 1990, has invested to restore its historic wine-making potential to production.
Two generations have chosen to specialize and work with great commitment with a single vine, the Fiano, grown in the high hills at almost 800 meters above sea level, on poor and stony soils. An arduous and unpredictable challenge, without compromise, with the only goal of interpreting the character of a truly extreme territory in the best possible way with an incredible grape variety. Alta Irpinia is in fact an unknown and fascinating place, remained natural and sparsely inhabited by a strong and authentic population. It is owned and managed by Guido Zampaglione who, although he also produces wines at Tenuta Grillo, in Monferrato, has remained deeply attached to his homeland. The cellar choices, faithful to Guido’s philosophy, are based on long maceration on the skins, with the desire to obtain for the only wine produced, Sancho Panza, a strong character identity and the potential for long aging.
