Cinsault is a black grape variety native to Southern France, also grown in South Africa and Lebanon.
Characteristics
The wine has a light ruby-red color. On the nose, it features aromas of strawberry, raspberry, and floral violet notes. On the palate, it is light and fruity, with soft tannins and a fresh finish.
Pairings
Ideal with summer salads, beef carpaccio, and Mediterranean dishes like ratatouille.
Curiosities
In South Africa, it is crossed with Pinot Noir to create Pinotage. In France, it is often used in blends to soften structured wines.
