Malvar is a native white grape variety from Spain, primarily cultivated in the Madrid region and Manchuela.
Characteristics
The wine exhibits a straw-yellow color with golden reflections. On the nose, it features aromas of tropical fruit (pineapple, mango), elderflower, and a grassy hay note. On the palate, it is fresh and lively, with pronounced acidity and a slightly bitter finish.
Pairings
Ideal with tapas like boquerones en vinagre and tortilla de patatas, as well as grilled fish and summer salads.
Curiosities
Drought-resistant, it was the main grape in Madrid for centuries before being replaced by international varieties. Today, it is rediscovered for its ability to express Castilian terroir.
