Marcelant is a rare white grape variety grown in small plots in Italy’s Aosta Valley.
Characteristics
The wine has a pale straw-yellow color. On the nose, it offers green apple, Williams pear, and herbal notes. On the palate, it is fresh and mineral, with vibrant acidity and a clean finish.
Pairings
Excellent with Valdostan fondue, polenta concia, and mountain trout.
Curiosities
Nearly extinct, it was revived by local producers to preserve Alpine viticultural biodiversity.
