Nascetta is an ancient white grape from Piedmont’s Langhe, revived in Novello. It thrives in calcareous-clay soils, producing aromatic, age-worthy wines under Langhe Nascetta DOC.
Characteristics
The wine has a bright gold color with green reflections. Aromas of peach, apricot, and acacia honey mingle with flinty minerality. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with crisp acidity and a bitter almond finish.
Pairings
Perfect with tajarin al burro (buttery pasta), rabbit alla piemontese, and Robiola di Roccaverano.
Curiosities
Once called “Anascetta,” it was nearly extinct by the 1990s. Langhe Nascetta DOC requires 100% Nascetta. Often aged on lees for texture.
