Uva di Troia is Puglia’s robust red grape, cultivated in Castel del Monte DOCG. Its name may derive from the town of Troia or the ancient city of Troy.
Characteristics
The wine has a deep ruby-red color. Aromas of blackberry, licorice, and tobacco are layered with earthy notes. On the palate, it is full-bodied with bold tannins, high alcohol, and a spicy finish.
Pairings
Matches braised beef, orecchiette con ragù, and aged Caciocavallo Podolico.
