In the south of the Marche in the center of the province of Ascoli Piceno there is Fontorfio. The winery is located at Cossignano, on a hill of clay used in the past centuries for the production of bricks and with an ancient source, Font'Orfio, always used by the local population as a trough and wash-house. Then, over the years, vineyards and olive groves were planted around that hill; the surrounding land has different characteristics and with areas that present in addition to clay, silt and sand. Here since 2005 Igino and Cinzia have decided to live and renovate the old farmhouse and the land following the biological and biodynamic way. The old vineyards were planted and new ones were planted, all with native vines: Montepulciano, Pecorino, Passerina. In the cellar follow a little interventionist vinification, with use of spontaneous fermentations, low use of sulfur, reduced use of filtrations and wood to obtain authentic wines, expressions of the territory.
