Tai Rosso (formerly Tocai Rosso), a red grape from Veneto, resembles Grenache.
Characteristics
Light, fizzy wines with wild strawberry, pink pepper, and saline hints. Grown on Vicenza’s Colli Berici, traditionally enjoyed young in local taverns. Oak-aged versions reveal blond tobacco notes.
Pairings
Vicenza-style baccalà, polenta with small birds, or Margherita pizza.
Curiosities
Renamed due to EU regulations conflicting with Hungarian Tokaji.
