Marco Colicchio – Delica Cinquanta Filari 2022

Marco Colicchio Winery born in 2012 with the aim of revitalizing small vineyards of native grape varieties and abandoned olive groves at the foothills of the Castelli Romani, to the southeast of the city of Rome. The company’s vineyards are composed of small plots situated at an altitude of approximately 200 meters, with the soil characterized exclusively by volcanic earth. A thick layer of red tuff forms the substrate of the land, which has defined wine production in the vicinity of Rome for decades, and in whose potential, Colicchio firmly believes. The grape varieties cultivated are Malvasia rossa, Malvasia di Candia, Trebbiano, Grechetto, Falanghina, Sangiovese, and Syrah. The Grechetto and Falanghina vineyards are located in Pavona, just below Albano, on soils rich in iron and minerals. On the other hand, Malvasia Puntinata thrives on predominantly limestone soils in the vicinity of Marino. These vineyards have varying ages, from the historic ones planted in 1948 to the most recent additions of approximately 15 years. Our production philosophy is centered around sustainable agriculture, with a firm commitment to not using any synthetic products and showing the utmost respect for nature. In the winery, we adhere to a philosophy of minimal intervention, embracing spontaneous fermentations and avoiding any clarification or filtration.
