Tenuta San Marcello – Petaloso 2023

Cantina Tenuta San Marcello born in 2008 as the brainchild of Massimo Palmieri and Pascale Marquet. Initially, it started as an agriturismo but later shifted its focus to the production of local wines. Located in an area renowned for two distinctive and valuable DOC wines, Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi and Lacrima di Morro d’Alba Superiore, the winery is dedicated to enhancing the value of the region, and the results are already evident in the glass. The soil in the vineyards is clay-limestone, situated at approximately 220 meters above sea level and not far from the Senigallia beach. Occasionally, the sea breeze can be felt all the way to the vineyards, imparting a slight salinity to the grapes. In the vineyard, the work is carried out with utmost respect for the environment, following a low-impact, eco-sustainable agricultural approach. To preserve the vitality of the 3.7 hectares of vineyards, dedicated to Lacrima (2.2 hectares) and Verdicchio (1.5 hectares), only naturally occurring soil microorganisms or preparations made from plants and algae are used. The use of any chemical products, including copper and sulfur treatments, is strictly prohibited. The grapes are hand-harvested and pressed within an hour of picking to minimize the use of sulfur. In the winery, the must is processed in an oxygen-free environment to accentuate the varietal aromas. Temperature control is managed through a modern geothermal system powered entirely by renewable sources.
