Antonio Ligabue Winery

Antonio Ligabue Winery was born in 2003 from the passion of Fausto Ligabue for wine, nature, and his love for his son Antonio. It’s located in the heart of Val Camonica, precisely in the small town of Capo di Ponte, a UNESCO site for prehistoric art. In this historic place, two massive mountains considered sacred by the ancient Camuni stand facing each other: Concarena and Pizzo Badile.
At the foot of Concarena, a mountain composed of limestone and gypsum, with sinkholes and underground streams that keep the soil cool, 2 hectares are cultivated primarily with local grape varieties: red grapes including Cornalin, Fumin, and Ciliegiolo, and white grapes including Petite Arvine. The area is characterized by a unique microclimate: the steep slopes of the peaks provide the vines with cool night winds and warm breezes during the day, protecting the plants from common diseases. The company operates exclusively under certified organic standards, in full respect of the grapes and the land.
In the vineyard, everything is done manually, with a focus on caring for and preserving the ecosystem created in the vineyard. No chemical products or invasive pesticides are used; few buds per shoot and no fertilization allow for the production of 3 or 4 clusters per plant, with an average yield of about 5/6 hectograms.
In the cellar, work is done in a simple and natural way, allowing the blends to express themselves to the fullest. There are no interventions, and the grapes are crushed or destemmed in open vats with their own yeasts, without filtration and clarification, without temperature control, and without resorting to sulfur dioxide at any stage of winemaking, both for reds and whites. Aging takes place in barrels or old tonneaux for 3-5 years for reds and 2-3 years for whites before bottling. In total, just under 4000 bottles are produced to express the entire tradition and territory of the Valley.
