Lusenti Winery

Lusenti Winery born in Vicobarone, in the municipality of Ziano Piacentino, in Val Tidone, in the 1960s by Gaetano, the father. He acquired new lands and planted vineyards, but it was his grandfather Pietro who first purchased the land for table grape cultivation in the early 1900s. Lodovica is the youngest of Gaetano’s three daughters and decided to take care of the vineyards and the company together with her husband Giuseppe Ferri.
Lodovica Lusenti works in an area with a long-standing tradition in winemaking, characterized by hills that slope down from the Tidone River to the nearby Lombardy border of Oltrepo Pavese in the west.
Today, the vineyards cover an area of approximately 20 hectares and feature vines of various ages, ranging from 12 to 80 years old. They consist of native and typical grape varieties of the Colli Piacentini, such as Malvasia aromatica di Candia, Ortrugo, Barbera, and Croatina, alongside international varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Nero.
The vineyards are situated at altitudes ranging from 230 to 250 meters above sea level, and the soils are composed of clay and loam with noticeable limestone streaks. The agricultural approach has been completely converted to organic farming since 2014. The land is managed using cover crops and grass between the rows, with no use of pesticides or synthetic fertilizers. The use of copper and sulfur as pest control treatments is also minimized.
The company represents a connection point that links traditional production with modern choices made since the 1990s. The local culture is rooted in classic bottle-fermented wines, with a focus on gastronomic heritage. Their offerings include Bonarda, particularly in a sweet version, as well as Ortrugo and Malvasia. Still red wines were introduced in the 1980s when Gaetano introduced wooden barrels for aging in the cellar, along with the production of passito and sweet wines. Spontaneous fermentations and extended aging on the lees express the full character of the grape as a raw material
