Coda di Volpe (“Fox Tail”) is a Campanian white grape named for its elongated clusters. It thrives in volcanic soils around Vesuvius, producing lively, food-friendly wines.
Characteristics
The wine has a straw-yellow color with silver highlights. Aromas of white peach, melon, and elderflower are accented by a smoky, mineral edge. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with bright acidity and a saline finish.
Pairings
Excellent with fried zucchini blossoms, linguine with clams, and fresh mozzarella di bufala.
Curiosities
Coda di Volpe was historically blended with Greco and Fiano. Today, it stars in Campania whites like Vesuvio DOC.
