Tenuta Belvedere – Una Scoperta Pinot Grigio 2019

Tenuta Belvedere born in Montecalvo Versiggia amidst the lush hills of Pavia in 2013 when Gianluca Cabrini, the current owner, renovated the old cellar owned by his wife. Gianluca had previously worked in the automotive sector but, driven by his love for his wife and the land, he left his job to fully dedicate himself to viticulture, despite having no prior background as a winemaker. Tenuta Belvedere’s vineyards cover an area of approximately 10 hectares in the hills of Oltrepò Pavese. The climate, moderated by maritime currents from the Ligurian Sea, and the well-draining soil composed of clay and limestone of marine origin make this Oltrepadano region perfect for the production of Pinot Nero and other native grape varieties such as Croatina, Barbera, and Uva Rara, as well as Pinot Grigio and Riesling Renano. In the vineyards, there is no trace of chemical fertilizers and other synthetic chemicals. Instead, they aim to work the soil while preserving it from erosion and depletion, using organic fertilization only when necessary before the winter months, spontaneous ground cover between the rows, and minimal treatments involving copper and sulfur. In the cellar, they try to intervene as little as possible to avoid compromising what nature has provided. Spontaneous fermentations, aging in stainless steel tanks, and minimal use of sulfites.
