Villa Job is born in Pozzuolo del Friuli, province of Udine, Italy. It’s story arises from the passion of Alessandro and Lavinia, who, after a journey of studies and work in the field of consulting and marketing, decided to turn the page and dedicate themselves to viticulture, producing emotional, personal, and free wines.
They own approximately 6.5 hectares of vineyards inherited from Alessandro’s grandfather, which were conceived with a systemic and circular thinking approach, aiming to minimize waste and follow the natural course of the vines, plants, and must. The vineyards are located in Zugliano, in a microzone of Friuli Grave, on the Pozzuolo del Friuli plateau, at an altitude of 90 meters above sea level (known geologically as “i Colli o i Terrazzi”), surrounded by a forest and the Cormor River, on complex soils rich in sand, clay, sandstone, and marl.
In the vineyard, they embrace the principles of certified organic farming combined with biodynamic practices such as cover cropping, spontaneous undergrowth, and respect for the energy balance of the plants and the vineyard within the natural world that surrounds it (flora and fauna). Year after year, this approach gives rise to lively and vibrant expressions of the original terroir. The work is done manually without pruning, thinning, or leaf removal to avoid unnecessary stress on the plants, aiming to achieve the best possible balance during the harvest period, which is often late, to obtain mature and highly expressive grapes for maceration.
In the cellar, the wine is made with the help of native yeasts present on the skins, undergoing spontaneous fermentations in steel containers or wooden barrels depending on the type, without temperature control and with cooling using well water. What is achieved are wines that express personality, richness, and harmony.->Discover all the wines of Villa Job Winery
