Léo Dirringer
Léo Dirringer is a part of a family of winemakers with a tradition that spans four generations. Their estate, Domaine Ruhlmann Dirringer, is nestled in Dambach-la-Ville, just a few kilometers north of Colmar, along the picturesque “route des vins d’Alsace,” spanning 14 hectares of land.
The passion for viticulture seemed to be Léo’s natural calling. After obtaining a diploma in oenology from Montpellier, he embarked on a transformative journey to Switzerland. It was during an internship with the renowned natural winemaker Marie-Thérèse Chappaz that Léo became convinced of the paramount importance of grape quality and terroir respect.
At the end of 2016, Léo took the reins of the family estate and embarked on a path toward organic farming. His winemaking follows a natural course, eschewing the use of sulfites and relying on indigenous yeasts. Initially, this innovation raised eyebrows among the older generation, but the success of Léo’s wines has unequivocally validated this choice.
Léo Dirringer’s wines authentically express his commitment to quality and sustainability. They narrate a tale of tradition and innovation, carrying forward the family legacy with passion, safeguarding Nature, and showcasing the genuine taste of Alsace.
