Pionda is Crealto’s interpretation of Nebbiolo, a grape variety that finds a home in the Monferrato hills capable of expressing great finesse and complexity. Coming from a vineyard of about 30 years, located in Cardona on clay-gypsum soil with south-southwest exposure, this wine represents the elegance and depth of a specialized territory. Maceration of about 20 days in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts. This is followed by aging for about 12 months in 225-liter French oak barriques and a further 6 months in the bottle. No microfiltration, no fining, and minimal added sulfites.

Tasting Notes

  • Appearance: Bright and luminous pale ruby red color with a garnet rim, typical of Nebbiolo.
  • Nose: The olfactory profile is fragrant and complex. Notes of violet, wild berries (plum, blackberry, currant), tobacco, cocoa, and sweet spices emerge, with light hints of leather and licorice. A bouquet reminiscent of the finesse found in certain mountain Nebbiolos.
  • Palate: The entry is rather full-bodied and tannic, with a strong mineral texture that supports the sip. The tannins are present but well-integrated into the structure, and the freshness is pleasant and balanced. The body is medium in thickness but of great intensity. The finish is persistent and harmonious, with fruity and spicy echoes of rare elegance.

Why choose it

Because it is a Nebbiolo of rare elegance and personality, capable of combining varietal power with surprising drinkability. For those seeking a wine that recalls the great mountain Nebbiolos but with an authentic Monferrato soul. Perfect for lovers of this grape variety who want to explore lesser-known interpretations of the highest level.
