Barbarus from Cantina Pequena Adega Romana is a red wine made from Garnacha Tintorera grapes sourced from two vineyards located at different altitudes and with varying degrees of ripeness (400–600 m). The grapes undergo a long maceration on the skins, ferment with indigenous yeasts, and then age for 9 months in terracotta amphorae, known locally as tinajas.
Barbarus pays tribute to the memory of Marcus Aurelius Probus, the Roman emperor who lifted the ban imposed by Domitian and encouraged vine cultivation throughout Europe.
